Initial Model on First Run
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

We would like to load the rocktopus.stl model file when first launching Cura LE. We use this as our first print object, and all our documentation states it will automatically load on first run.

We would like this loaded on the first run of the program only.

@TKostennov With Quiver_evergreen_bagworm coming up, we would like to know if it is possible to set different first run models per printer.

For quiver we would like to have 2 separate models loaded in when first adding the machine. Would it be possible to load 2 models to a specific printer?

@karrad We added a mechanism to load more than one model when first adding the printer.
That can be customized in "cura/resources/meshes/initial_models_for_first_run.json" (we load 2 rocktopuses but of course can be possible to load different models).
Do we need set extruder for each model? It's may be difficult to realization because some application structure features.
Located in T1713 branch.

@TKostennov Thank you, there will be no need to assign an extruder per model. We will take advantage of this in the quick start guide to show people how to select extruder, material, and combine objects.

Running a test build now, and will get over to master once confirmed.
