Include bed power harness retention clip in accesories kit and document how to use it in QSG.
Open, NormalPublic

Description

We have seen a number of bed power harnesses melt out because they were not installed all the way and so we would like to include MPN 110G68 with the printers, as well as instructions on how to install it during setup.

The retention pins ordered for testing a while back were given to @EricNugent to install on cluster machines. It'd be worth verifying their integrity after the length of time they've been in the cluster. There may be a part number for these already as well. I will see if I can find it

EL-MS0523

@logan last I checked, they were all still in place with no issues under normal operation.

@kent this has already been addressed T3428

@west we're talking here about the connection the user will need to make when assembling the printer, on the bed side. Adding that clip to the kit and QSG has not been addressed.

west added a comment.Oct 10 2018, 2:09 PM

@logan the y chain to bed mount has a retaining feature like the interconnect cover to address this

kent added a comment.Oct 10 2018, 3:15 PM

Cool I looked and I think we might need two sets of features to hold both sides of the connector like this:

west added a comment.Oct 11 2018, 12:49 PM

After inistalling a y axis onto a frame and attaching everything, I think it will be easier on the costumer if the printed part doesnt have retaining features and we go with the recommended above

@west Using the clips? If so, I agree, its a nice little piece from the manufacturer.

west added a comment.Oct 11 2018, 12:54 PM

@logan yes, i think itll be easier on all ends

@west The interconnect housing will still have the printed retainer similar to what @kent posted above though right?

@nickp Just a heads up for a QSG and tool kit inclusion; we're looking at including EL-MS0523 which is a retention clip for the bed harness connector at the bed side.
@jessica Mouser shows this part (Mfg Part # 110G68) with a 5 week lead time at 50 cents to a dollar per piece so it seemed like a good idea to tag you on this as well

jessica added a subscriber: kim.Oct 11 2018, 2:15 PM

@kim - Can you see if this can be sourced somewhere other than mouser with a shorter lead time? Thank you!

kim added a comment.Oct 11 2018, 2:59 PM

@jessica @nickp @logan
I found source, Sager, 100 min order qty 5 weeks lead time $0.421 each

May not be able to get these in for alphas, have they been added to the BOM?

kent reassigned this task from kent to logan.Nov 26 2018, 4:10 PM

I think all that needs to happen on this one is to add it to the BOM and order it for the beta/production run. @logan when you have a minute, can you make sure both these things get done?

logan reassigned this task from logan to kim.Nov 27 2018, 9:19 AM

Added to BOM/MBOM
Left in Y-Axis section on MBOM due to lack of packaging section
@Steven T3977 is ready to be merged to master AFAIK

Found immediate stock at Mouser to support Alpha and Beta builds.
and previously had source: Min order qty 1,000 pc 0.421 / 5 weeks leadtime, contacted a few other distributors for best cost and lead time info to set up OCA product card.

@logan do we have any of these in the building that have been tested? I know it was discussed but I'm not sure any ever made it on to the prototype machines. If we don't have any we should order a few to test before we get to Beta.

kim added a comment.Nov 27 2018, 9:40 AM

I purchased 10 pcs and they show located in MER. I will add 10 pcs to first order to test.

logan reopened this task as Open.Nov 27 2018, 9:59 AM

@Steven Yes, see first comments in this thread

This is not resolved until the clip is on the QSG and in the proper location on the BOM once it exists.

Who is working on the quiver QSG?

DaniAO added a subscriber: DaniAO.Wed, Jan 9, 2:31 PM

We don't have any one just yet. Once we get a beta Marketing will start.

logan moved this task from Needs Review to Beta Sprint on the Quiver board.Wed, Jan 9, 2:32 PM

@kent Just pulled the BOM from master and this part isn't on there

kent added a comment.Mon, Jan 14, 12:35 PM

@logan that's odd. That must mean that a later change removed it.

logan added a comment.Mon, Jan 14, 1:13 PM

@kent Confirmed, it was already placed on the MBOM so we're good there
