Research current Open Hardware hot ends and extruders
Closed, ResolvedPublic

With the feedback we have seen from the Aero extruder design now would be a good time to review other alternatives in the community, including new development from E3D.

In Thomas Sanladerer's interview with Sanjay at E3D, there was a short preview of a new extruder/hot end combo under development. It might be worth reaching out to E3D to see if we can get a preview of anything they have in development.

@adam per the schedule from E3D for that new extruder, it isn't going to fit into the current time line for Brizo. E3D will not be releasing source until the product is released which is too far into our schedule for concept dev.

Based on my research, there is really not much in the way of actually open source options. Likely going to be another existing E3D Titan (aero or aqua), or something designed in-house. There was some work done early in Quiver by @west on custom toolheads, which we were able to get to extrude with some prototypes we machined. We did not get any further than just simply pushing plastic, as that was all the further we got when we decided to go with the Titan. But, that is some work to go off of, if we decide to go that route.

Ok, going to close this out as we're pretty certain we're going to have to do something in house.
