Wifi/LAN hardware
Open, NormalPublic

Description

With the spec requirement for WiFi and LAN we need to determine how this can be achieved in the time line.

There is some work done in Marlin forks leading to support using ESP chips for Wifi. Marcio found a board produced by Olimex that could be a good starting point for adding WiFi and LAN: https://www.olimex.com/Products/IoT/ESP32/ESP32-GATEWAY/open-source-hardware

This will require firmware and software changes being tracked in T4850.

We've currently ruled out anything with ESP hardware as they require a non-free binary library for WiFi. We are going to start going down the path of looking at the Onion Omega or an Atheros usb adapter.
