Blower shroud hits wiper mounts on first layer.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Quiver 4

When positioning the tool-head at z = -1 to z = 0 and moving along the outline of the bed there are areas that the nozzle cannot reach due to the height of the wiper mounts and size of the blower shroud.

It is possible this will be an assembly issue to ensure the blower shroud sits high enough to not allow contact with the wiper mounts.

Creating this ticket for future reference in case the issue is translatable to all machines.

Is it hitting just the part of the wiper mount that sits above the wiper?

@west Yes, I believe that is the geometry that is interfering.

I'n not seeing it on my printer but I think we could easily remove that feature so there wont be some hitting. The feature is kinda legacy and doesnt really hold the pad in from what I can tell

@west it holds the ends of the pad down since the wipe is in the middle. I think without them you will see the ends of the pad pop up a bit

@tutley would adding some internal sawtooth grips at either end of the part help?

@EricNugent i think something like that could work. we will need to make sure the part is reusable as the pads will likely be changed multiple times in the printer's lifetime

@EricNugent @MikeR can one of you confirm if the changes to the wiper pad mount here fixed the issues you were seeing?

@Steven The lower profile wiper mount appears to work great, have not been able to catch the blower shroud on it while printing first layer.

@Steven My blower shroud has not hit the wiper mount since we made the change, however and I do not know if this just my machine, but I have been consistently wiping a little to the right on the wiper pad.

Ok, this is now merged into master.

@MikeR I think that should be a different ticket as it could be caused by a few things unrelated to this fix.
