@tutley can you please put the current start and end gcode you are using and any other machine profile changes that are different from the Mini 2?

I built the machine off of the Mini2 SL, but you could use SE or whatever

Machine setting changes:

  • Origin at center
  • build plate shape: elliptic
  • x width: 38
  • y depth: 38
  • z height: 10

Start Gcode:

M82 ;absolute extrusion mode
M221 S100
;This G-Code has been generated specifically for the LulzBot Mini 2 Kangaroopaw
M73 P0 ; clear GLCD progress bar
M75 ; Start GLCD Print Timer
M420 S0 ; disable leveling matrix
M82 ; set extruder to absolute mode
G92 X0 Y0 Z0 E0 ; set position to 0

M117 Mini 2 Printing... ; progress indicator message on LCD

End Gcode:

M400 ; wait for moves to finish
G1 Z50 F1000 ; move extruder out of the way
M77 ; End GLCD Print Timer
G90 ; absolute positioning
M18 X Y E ; turn off x y and e axis
M117 Print Complete. ; print complete message
M82 ;absolute extrusion mode

Note the machine changes for build plate size were set based on the small petri dish i have been testing with and these values may need to be changed later depending on the desired petri dish size

also under hot end settings

Nozzle size is 0.16mm
And i noticed if you change material diameter the profiles disappear, including the one i build for using alginate (was built off of polylite PLA). So i have been leaving that at 2.85mm

One thing we can consider to address the different petri dishes, is to make this a quick option in recommended settings.

Petri Dish:
Radius/Diameter [entry box]
Height [entry box]

This would allow whatever lab easy access to different sized petri dishes

current profile settings

this was made using the older version of the extruder that had a pretty limited extrusion speed,
so likely we will be able to increase print speed by quite a bit, but this will need tested
