I'm planning on doing the inspections once I get all the drawings annotated and the Inspection forms completed. For this part, we do one in lot for overall dimensions and a comparative test for %2 of the lot. We rely pretty heavily on production catching issues with sheet metal which they are pretty good at doing since they are building with it every day.
Sheet metal has historically been our most expensive part in terms of fallout. Depending on how these inspections go, we might find that we aren't meeting the recommended process capability index and as a result we can't recommend proceeding with a PO. This is good in that it will prevent massive fallout during production, but bad because it will delay the project while we come up with another solution.
