Engine Print: TAZ Pro PLA results with Poly Dissolve support
Open, NormalPublic

Description

Printed the engine with Poly PLA and Poly Dissolve at standard settings with TAZ Pro (beta 5?) PR0050NA-0023 yesterday with no changes to fan settings. PLA has sloppy over hangs. Either too hot or needs more cooling? See attached photo; gcode file included. Poly Dissolve was a little wet, but not bad.

Currently re-running with standard settings again except increasing fan to 100% minimum, turned on support interface{F3517112}

Print below with 100% fan, Z override on support. A bit better.

Next drop temperature on PLA from 230 to 220; return Z override back to X/Y override for support

We had a report of "black specs" when printing polydissolve at 230c, and when reducing temp to 220c these were removed.

We had a report of "black specs" when printing polydissolve at 230c, and when reducing temp to 220c these were removed.

I believe this comment is related to something I said so I want to add that I am new to PVA and as such I (now) know I've left the PolyDissolve out of it's bag long enough that it probably had moisture in it. So yes, reducing the temp DID remove the black specs, but I just want to be clear that I'm sure I had moisture in mine and if anyone who is expert on it knows or not, could that have been part of the "burnt" specs ... just wanted to mention in case.

I have been working on the polydissolve profile improvements and I have found the same, anything over 225 will cause the material to burn inside the nozzle and cause strip outs and clogs, wet or dry. My new profile is set to 220 at slower speeds and is looking nice. I will be posting that tomorrow after the test I have running now finishes and passes.

Attention! UPDATE!
Please Update your Cura (3.6.20) and try some of these again. Thank you all for your feedback and info.

Due to the recent PLA updates needed to eliminate stringing I will be running some new pla+polydissolve tests to make sure we are all still good here. When I have profile updates ready for the Pro I will update this ticket and post them here: T10205

Please import when available and test.
