Change Filament While Printing
Closed, ResolvedPublic

While printing, pressing the change filament button (without pausing print) and selecting the inactive nozzle results in very weird behavior including momentarily freezing, switching to the inactive nozzle, dragging it through the print, and beginning to print with inactive nozzle.

@eBeardslee What nozzle was printing when you selected change filament? From testing not during a print, it appears whenever entering/existing the change filament screen it switches to E1

E1 was printing and I selected to prehead E2 for changing filament

@eBeardslee Please try pausing the print first, and then using the change filament option. We may be able to implement something in Marlin to automatically send the pause command while printing when selecting change filament.

@marcio Getting on your radar, any thoughts on how to prevent this via FW?

Tested. Filament change works fine when paused first. Resumed as intended after.

@marcio Would we be able to send the pause command before using change filament via the LCD?

@karrad: I'll check. At the least, I could probably gray out the filament change option when the printer isn't paused.
