Kangaroo Paw Toolhead Milled Parts for Alpha
Open, NormalPublic

Description

We have received parts for the Kangaroo Paw from PO32143. These parts range from PP-MP0277 through PP-MP0281. If these parts work for R&D we would like to use them for the alpha/beta build of the KP printer. These parts are being sent to Tyler in R&D for review. After that we need to send the parts to Kent who will create a FA check sheet to test to. If the parts all pass FA we can then use them for alpha/beta builds.

i visually looked at the parts and they looked good, i did not check any measurements or anything. This would be done by @AOJAS
I have sent the parts with james to go back to @tomc

A note on these parts: these were made to step files, not to drawings. Step files don't have any tolerances so these are not NCMR-able if they don't end up meeting the spec.

the step files match the drawings, so we should be good in theory

the step files match the drawings

No they don't. One has tolerances and one doesn't.

@kent but the drawings were made from the step files. The step files are exactly the target dimensions, the drawings are only there to specify allowable tolerances on the target dimensions and other manufacturing notes like surface finish, material, etc. Its not like they re model every part based on the drawings. They use the provided step file to generate path for the mill, then use the drawings to ensure everything is within the tolerances specified. Also these were made by JMT who had a few questions about the drawings when they got the PO. So they were made with the drawings in mind

I don't think we provided drawings at the time of the PO, but maybe I'm operating off incomplete information.

we definitely did. i got questions from JMT about them so i know they had them

Here are the inspection forms with the annotated drawings attached.

kent reassigned this task from kent to AOJAS.Jul 18 2019, 8:04 AM

@AOJAS can you take the measurements for these parts?

AOJAS added a comment.EditedJul 24 2019, 10:26 AM

I think I'll use these as an opportunity to train and test the new hire on their mechanical design literacy and measurement capabilities. Josh says the part isn't super hot given holdups with the sheet metal, so we should have time to do this. I'll be reviewing the person's measurements to make sure they are accurate.

Ok thanks. If you have any questions or suggestions for the inspection form I made, let me know.

@jperry @kent @AOJAS these need to be done, all parts are hot we cannot shut production down. Please get this taken care of.

@AOJAS what are the results of this inspection? We would like to move forward with getting Alphas built and need this info to do so.

AOJAS added a comment.EditedAug 6 2019, 9:14 AM

Measurements have been taken with some features of the specs having been highlighted for clarification. I'm still reviewing the measurements as there are some confusing aspects of the spec sheets. The data still needs to be entered into the spreadsheets, with highlighted/red lined images added, then formatted to pdf to upload here.

@AOJAS how long before you think that will be done. As mentioned we would like to get Alphas built as soon as we can and these parts are needed to do that.

Working on them now. It may take until Friday since I'm also training a new employee. If @oliver or someone else in MER has time to assist, it can be done sooner.

@AOJAS Justin, please utilize Will in training on these metals, they must be completed prior to Friday. Thank you.
