Standard, I just add the detail on the end by habit because both of the other two profiles end in detail so my brain says this one should too. Sorry about the confusion on that!

Galadriel added a comment to T3363: Anti-virus/security software blocking Cura as a malicious program.

We will occasionally see security software stop Cura when we release a new branch and it is still brand new, but I haven't seen another influx of people having this issue since we moved off of .23. It seems that whatever was causing this was sorted out without our intentional intervention.

Galadriel added a comment to T4462: EL-HR0088; TAZ 6, Y & Z Harness Internal.

It's not the most commonly requested part by any means but I have seen a few of them recently. I think mostly this is helpful in situations where we have narrowed it down to the wiring harness driving the motor causing the difficulty but they don't want to try and track down if it's internal or external and would rather just replace the whole system to avoid future failures.

Galadriel added a comment to T4326: Adhesion Info Updates.

Having extra suggestions never hurts, I feel like these should probably be listed as kind of last options since the PEI reconditioning is more helpful for general bed adhesion difficulties (at least in my experience) and if it's specifically an issue with ABS and the thermal contraction struggle then I have found that aside from maintaining the heat next best option is to just give your model a massive foot print by using a giant brim, this way even if the edge begins to warp you still have a decent chance of the print finishing before it can become detached.

Galadriel added a comment to T3971: Update Banded and Dingy re-wipe temperature.

Got a couple probe fails using the new firmware and in general I feel like the option of having the toolhead go back and for a few extra times would probably be less alarming for customers. I also am starting to see the telltale gouge in my wiper pad due to the nozzle pausing over one spot. So all in all I would say the wear to the pad would be about the same but wiping it will disperse the wear better.

Galadriel added a comment to T4202: Banded 0.8 printing feedback.

I have a couple new tests to report. Two from Friday of last week working with ABS, I printed a pretty dang nice Rocktomech that was scaled up 250% I am pretty sure. Only real imperfections on the Rocktomech were the Z-Seams being a bit prominent but considering nozzle diameter I would say they are probably about as small as we can get them. I am honestly just trying to push the toolhead with as much difficult stuff as I can since I know that is what customers will be doing so I know exactly what it's limits are. I also tried to print two animal chess pieces that I maxed out on the build platform but flew to close to the sun on that one because even with the enclosure one of them warped up off the bed and ruined the print about halfway through. If I had done one at a time or added additional bed adhesion it probably would have come out great since the bottom part looks really nice aside from slight warping. Both of these prints were done using the standard detail profile with the only change being the fans were turned off.

Galadriel added a comment to T3988: Wiper location tolerance stackup.

I would say ended up with about the same number of probe issues using the double wiper as I did using the single with our stock toolhead. I have been using the double wiper the whole time I have been testing the Banded so I don't feel like I am the best authority on if it is improving wiping with these toolheads. Should have more definitive answer on that later since the printer on my desk got swapped for one with a single wiper that I will be doing testing with Banded on today so I will be able to compare.

@karrad Mine was done at standard size because I was trying to see how far I could push the toolhead. Overall I was impressed, that bit of stringing I would normally just post process honestly but I know we have some customers who might see that as to much post processing so I thought I would mention it.

I have completed 2 prints on the Polylite PLA profile at standard speed and found that there was a definitely stringing occurring, it might be good to adjust the retraction settings for this profile slightly. Otherwise it printed both of my parts just about perfectly without any adjustments.

@EricNugent So with the angle that I had to be at to get a photo of that screw they all came out pretty terribly :( I couldn't get the camera to focus in the right spot. @EricNugent I don't have a photo of the screw right now but I can run over and grab one in a little bit here to post. It was the back screw that needed the extra washers. I did a kind of cursory inspect on the heat set insert when I was running into issues attaching the toolhead and didn't see any plastic in the threading but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I was trying to help Lily get one of these set up on her desk and was unable to get the back screw to hold the toolhead securely unless we added several washers as a stop gap. There was a pretty sizable gap without the additional washers (Photos included)

I did have to do some fiddling with the offset when I was using the toolhead, getting a good first layer for more simple prints like the antler model I tried was pretty easy but when I upped the ante and tried doing a more complex model with gears that are supposed to mesh getting a good first layer that was well adhered but also allowed movement of the parts was much more of a trick (I haven't actually gotten a successful print of that model yet where it was movable). In fairness though the geared model I tried is also just difficulty to print in general so I was kind of pushing it. I just checked and right now it is set to -1.10.

So I didn't think to mention this when I initially made this code ticket but I just ran into a second occurrence of the same thing and it made me think it was worth noting. When I was on the phone with the customer this ticket was made for initially he mentioned that he had gone into the settings for his RAMBo on his computer (not through Cura) and found that the Com Speed in there was listed at 9600. Since I have never bothered checking what that should be set to it didn't occur to me that this would be an issue until I ran into it again on a new ticket ID# 173596. They have been running on 21.04 successfully for a while now. Drivers are definitely installed, they are still able to flash firmware using older versions of Cura. Had them try reflashing through 21.04 earlier today and they can complete that successfully but are still unable to flash new firmware. It sounds like they are going to try doing a custom firmware install of the 1.1.8.59 using 21.04 to see if they can flash that way.

The major reason I created the code ticket was because one gentleman had difficulty flashing through Cura LE when he was getting wrong printer message so we had to revert to Legacy Cura to flash as a Mini before going back to the Cura LE to flash with current firmware which seemed unusual.

Customer did remove all old instances of Cura and clear cache before loading up new software and experiencing this issue. I also wanted to make sure I explained what was happening correctly because I know the wrong printer warning is normal but what was weird to me was that when they checked their firmware version using the M115 command it came back that the firmware flashed on their printers was for a Mendel brand printer instead of a Lulzbot. Would that still just be a normal oddity of the interaction between old cache files and new software?

  1. I asked them about the layer height because I didn't quite understand that one either and I am waiting on word back for that and will update this once I have more information.
  2. The drawing view he is referring to is the prepare area in Cura versus the Monitor section.
  3. I let him know about the adjustment through gcode in my email where I asked about #2 but figured that I would add the suggestion in here because I do encounter people on the forums talking about how they make adjustments to the extrusion amount at the start of a print semi-regularly and for some people that might be a nice addition to the options of skirt and brim for prints that take up the full build plate and can't have a skirt for priming.
  4. He said he already had the skirt turned off but I will verify if that was with these prints.
