Hob added a comment to T8630: Watchdog timer will sometimes not reset printer, leading to thermal runaway..

@marcio I have s beta and ran the test with .142. I let it run for a while without selecting STOP, so cycled it 4 times. It cycled through test 1, 2, and 3, including a momentary message of "Watchdog should bark" for each test without thermal runaway. If you need the unit, let me know, and I'll bring it over.

@karrad is responding to a large customer of ours to make the product better at very little cost. @tutley has provided two ways on how to solve the problem. Please implement in the most cost effective approach to one of @tutley solutions into the product ASAP. The customer specifically needs it securely attached to the printer, not contained separately in a toolkit. Thanks!

Test on Extruder 2 using 2.0.0.135 with Cura 3.6.11 on Pro Beta using standard production fan shroud. PLA, standard profile, spiralize & smooth, 0.25 layer. Build plate initial layer temp dropped to 60C, then 45C thereafter; fan 100%. Very clean bottom layers. Equally good results!

Hob added a comment to T7967: Nozzle Positioning During Automatic Nozzle Offset Calibration - Pro.

On my beta Pro, I flashed .135, upgraded to Cura 3.6.11, used existing production fan shroud, ran the automatic nozzle offset and printed the following calibration print using standard PLA profiles (except .25mm layer) - without any tweaks. Black is left over burned residue from previous. Best print yet!

Hob added a comment to T7535: Update Probe Fail Message.

Thanks Marcio.
I walked away from my print, went to a meeting, and when I came back it had this error message "Probing Failed". So I didn't know if it made it past auto-leveling or not, but nothing was printed. If it would have said "Leveling Failed" (15 CHAR), I would have known immediately what was wrong - probably dirty nozzles. Not sure if this terminology is helpful to others though.
thanks again for the education.

Hob added a comment to T7535: Update Probe Fail Message.

Thanks for the clarification.

  1. Regarding <MESSAGE>, Do we have the diagnostics precision to identify the difference between an auto-leveling failure and other failures? If so, then "Probing failed during auto-leveling" (35 char) for TAZ Pro will help the user.
  2. Can you list what all the error codes are?
  3. Does "Please reset" always mean turn the printer off and back on? If so, "Switch off/on" might be clearer

Hob added a comment to T6539: Redgum tool head coloring.

so based on our discussion this morning, it's LulzBot green. Green is for 0.5mm nozzles, light gray for 0.8mm, dark gray for 1.2mm
Wording on green part may be "HS" with "0.5mm" below it as raised lettering. This would distinguish from SE 0.5mm on Mini2
@eBeardslee this would also affect naming on existing HS tool head. Recommendation would be existing tool head becomes HS 0.8mm. This one becomes HS 0.5mm. Thoughts?

@Orias does the Froala Editor affect any end-user consumption of information on the web that forces them to accept a license? If not, then the end user still has a FLO experience. And if there is a license requirement to a web user, do they have a choice to accept or reject?

Note the strongest new material for these tool heads is colorFabb PA-CF, a carbon filled nylon. See https://shop3duniverse.com/collections/3d-printer-filament/products/colorfabb-pa-cf-low-warp-700-g
Note the sample parts they show - functional machine-type brackets. Rather boring, but just a case in point

Eric and I are going through some stuff right now. However, in the short term, it appears the hardened nozzles on these toolheads enable high-strength compositefilaments (different than durability and toughness). Case in point of tensile strengths (MPa): PolyMide CoPA=66.2, colorFabb PETg Econ=49.0, colorFabb PA-CF=107.0, XSTAND-GF-30 =102.0. This is an average tensile strength of ~81 Mpa. However, there elongation @ break is quite low - 13%, or more on the brittle side. This is in contrast to the MOAR products that are durable and tough, but have greater elongation @ break: probably average around ~55MPa tensile strength, but 3-5X the elongation.
