Steven added a comment to T5773: Find Open Source Tool to Program STM32F Series Microcontrollers.

If ODrive's firmware is all free software we can start from there. We'll have to dig into their source to see if this is going to be FSF compliant or not.

west added a comment to T5493: Actuating toolheads.

The couple thoughts I had were a nema 8 or 14 linked to two drive rods, a lh and a rh, with end stops at the bottom . Also maybe a worm gear setup. Like a worm gear o. The motor and two receiving gears connected to the core housings

@Steven mentioned possibly using something as simple as a fialment detector ie. is filament there or did it run out

Well, I'm not sure where to put it other than there for now. We do a lot more now in the git repos than we did when TAZ/Mini were started.

OnionIOT github mirrors have been set up for some of their repositories. They have over 100 and many aren't applicable. If you find one that is needed, let me know to clone it. So far cloned:

The catch there is that we were going to move these out of research_projects like we have with TAZ and Mini, but we don't know what the base model name of this printer is yet. Right now it's internally filed under greek_goddesses with Athena.

Steven added a comment to T4849: Wifi/LAN hardware.

We've currently ruled out anything with ESP hardware as they require a non-free binary library for WiFi. We are going to start going down the path of looking at the Onion Omega or an Atheros usb adapter.

samantha updated subscribers of T4728: Research current Open Hardware hot ends and extruders.

Based on my research, there is really not much in the way of actually open source options. Likely going to be another existing E3D Titan (aero or aqua), or something designed in-house. There was some work done early in Quiver by @west on custom toolheads, which we were able to get to extrude with some prototypes we machined. We did not get any further than just simply pushing plastic, as that was all the further we got when we decided to go with the Titan. But, that is some work to go off of, if we decide to go that route.

Steven added a comment to T4728: Research current Open Hardware hot ends and extruders.

@adam per the schedule from E3D for that new extruder, it isn't going to fit into the current time line for Brizo. E3D will not be releasing source until the product is released which is too far into our schedule for concept dev.

Steven added a comment to T4850: WiFi/LAN support.

Update on this, the ESP requires non-free software binary blobs so no-go there. Going to look down a few other possible paths this week...

adam added a comment to T4763: Brizo type name.

@Hob as far as I'm aware we haven't even discussed the retail name for Brizo or if we plan to use a type name for it (ie TAZ + number for each new TAZ that's released). Does this mean we want to set this up on devel under "devel/lulzbot/greek_goddesses"?

adam added a comment to T4728: Research current Open Hardware hot ends and extruders.

In Thomas Sanladerer's interview with Sanjay at E3D, there was a short preview of a new extruder/hot end combo under development. It might be worth reaching out to E3D to see if we can get a preview of anything they have in development.
